Christopher Columbus Lee Smith (Chris) was born to the parents of Patsy Hart and John Max Smith on November 6, 1937 in Caspiana, Louisiana. He was the third of six children. His family later moved to the Bronx, NY where he grew up in the Patterson Projects.
Chris enlisted to serve in the United States Air Force in 1955, and was honorably discharged in 1961 as an Airman 2nd Class.
In the early 1970’s, Chris moved to Dallas, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Johnnie Mae Smith on February 14,1984. During this union, he raised a daughter and six grandchildren.
Chris was employed as a construction Foreman on several sites and traveled across the US until he retired in the early 90’s.
Chris was a master domino player that would challenge the youngest to the oldest if they were ready. He loved to play cards, read novels, fish, hunt, complete puzzles, and most importantly, he cherished the time spent with friends and loved ones.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Mae Smith, parents Patsy Hart and John Max Smith, sister Doritha Mackey, sister Lillie Mae Williams, sister Jo Ann Bailey, and brother Henry Lee Smith.
Chris leaves to cherish his memories a beloved sister Valerie Davis from Bronx, New York, daughter Glenda Simmons (married to Willie Simmons), grandchild/daughter Crystal Smith, grandchildren he raised: Melody Hood, Deidre Hannible (married to Kenneth Hannible), Kiyana Hood, Casey Hood, and Stacey Hood all of Dallas, TX. Chris loved and adored a host of other children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
