Charles Lee Council, Jr., age 80, of Winston, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was born July 15, 1940 in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Council was a strong coach, a loving husband, a devout father, and an amazing grandfather. He proudly served his country as an airman radio operator on hurricane hunters out of Kindley Air Force base in Bermuda and later served at the Pentagon. Mr. Council was a generous man who “always gave more than he got”. He was known as the support system for the entire family, always putting their needs before his own, especially in caring for his eldest son Shawn. He enjoyed coaching football and baseball for his son’s team and left the legacy of a strong leader that many remember him by. He also spent many years as the president of Bill Arp ballpark and got it in incorporated into the counties park and recreational system. Mr. Council later served as president of Douglas County Tigers booster club for many years. His granddaughter, Sydnee, was his pride and joy, she played college athletics and he never missed the stats of any game and always called with updates. When he wasn’t working as a home builder he loved to work in the garden.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Helen (Hurst) Council, Sr.; son, Shawn Council who passed in 2015; brother, William “Bill” Council; brother-in-law, James H. Williams; and sister-in-law, Margie Croker.
