Hermie Lou Lawley Latham, was born October 21, 1925, in Mobile County to George and Ella Lawley. They moved to Active, Alabama, when she was 3 months old and she lived her life here except for a few years in Selma, Alabama. She graduated from BCHS in 1943 and worked at the Ration Board during WWII and at banking institutions and finally the USDA from where she retired in 1987. She was member of Active Bible Methodist Church where she served as Board Member, Sunday School Teacher, WMS President, Song Leader, and Treasurer for many many years. She loved her Church and rarely ever missed a service even when she didn’t feel like going. She loved to sing and often sang specials at church even up to 95 years of age using her beautiful alto voice. She loved her Lord and loved people. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina R. Latham; nephew Randy McGee (Laura), niece Ramona Long, niece Jan (Frank) Law; great nephew Joey (LeighAnn) Long, great niece Lynnae (Rob) Hall, great niece Kelly (Kevin) Hunt, great niece Robin Henderson, six great great nephews and one great great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Lawley, sisters, Aleita McGee and Ruth Lawley, nephew Ronald Long and niece Nancy McGee. She loved her family and her greatest joy was to be with them.

If Hermie could leave one word to you, it would be that it pays to serve the Lord. Heaven was her goal and now she has reached her reward.
