Carol A. (Chouinard) Pilotte, age 69, of Tiverton, RI died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with mucosal melanoma. She was the wife of Leonard “Lenny” Pilotte with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 28th. Carol was a devoted mother to her children Eric Pilotte and his wife Christine, and Melissa Pavao and her husband Scott, loving Babchu to Brittany, Jacob and Phoebe Pavao, and her beloved and spoiled dog, Lucy.
Carol was born in Fall River to Adrien and Stella (Hebda) Chouinard, and lived in the city until moving to Tiverton in 1986. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1969 and earned her Associates Degree from Bristol Community College. Carol was the Office Manager for Acupuncture of Woo for over 25 years, and was a private housekeeper for several years.
Carol, who was affectionately called “Lorac” by family and friends, loved photography, was an avid gardener, and a wonderful cook. Her love of cooking, family, and her Polish roots culminated in “Pierogi weekend”: a tradition of making dozens of her favorite food with her family whom she enjoyed spending time with. Fueled by her competitive nature, she amassed a collection of bowling trophies and was a fierce trash talking opponent when playing horseshoes and darts at the many family parties she and Lenny hosted. She also enjoyed needlepoint and created beautiful ornaments that adorn many a Christmas tree.
Carol leaves a brother Ronald Chouinard, her Mother-in-Law Leonie Pilotte, and In-Laws: Patricia Chouinard, Joanne Chouinard, Corinne and Dick Winegardner, Normand and Sandy Pilotte, Claude and Lea Ann Pilotte, Claire and Barney Rousseau, Celeste and Tim McGreavey, Thomas Pilotte, and many nieces & nephews. She was daughter-in-law of the late Normand Pilotte and sister of the late William, Lawrence and Roger Chouinard.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd., Fall River followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday from 4-7 pm.
