Brunswick Maine to Norma and Dwight Spaulding, of Freeport. Just in the next Town over in Pownal, is where she met the Love of her life and Husband of 47 years, William Jordan. Bill and Janice married on December 31, 1973. They raised three Children, Billy Jack, Ryan & Sarah. The two were complete opposites, but had the most important thing in common, the love they shared for one another.
Janice, also known as Babe, Mom & Nana, was all about her Family, and took great pride in nurturing all four of her Grandchildren. She was a light that brought warmth to so many. She will always be remembered for her kindness, her soft touch, her big hugs, always lending her shoulder, her eyes were full of innocence, and she looked past the exterior and right into everyone’s heart. She loved everyone right where they were. She was the definition of love and kindness.
Janice not only loved people, she loved animals. She always had her cats, and somehow always managed to come up with new names. Her latest cat, Oreo was one that she was especially proud of. She spent several weeks gaining her trust as she was a stray that just happened to find the right house to show up at. She took her in and spoiled her. She loved her bird feeders, and could always be found feeding all the other critters that showed up hungry. She loved seeing the raccoon's, the fox family, crows and the occasional deer. She loved her flower gardens and sitting in the sun listening to her tunes or reading a book. Janice was a night owl, and would sit up watching her soaps. Victor Newman and her go way back, as she was 7 years old when she first started watching The Young & The Restless with her Mom. She loved to sleep in and adored her coffee.
Janice worked many different jobs before deciding to be a stay at home Mom. She worked in the shoe manufacturing businesses in Freeport, as a CNA at the local nursing home, at Days Crabmeat, and also spent many years in Childcare. She was at her best when she was surrounded by Children. She just knew how to nurture them and just loved reading them stories and making arts and crafts.
Janice was not only a Wife, or a Mom, or a Friend she was famously known as Aunt Jan. She was Aunt Jan to not only her Nieces and Nephews, but to any and all Kids that showed up at her door. She was someone that everyone just loved right away, and no matter how many years would pass, if you ran into her, she was Aunt Jan.
Janice met her lifelong Best Friend Sue at the age of ten. (55 years) She was an only Child, so Sue was always considered her Sister. The two had a connection that would never be broken. She met her other Best Friend Billie, (41 years) when they were both pregnant with their Daughters. Their Friendship meant everything to her.
Janice is survived by her Husband William Jordan Sr, her two Sons, Bill Jordan Jr. and his Wife Donika, Ryan Jordan and his Wife Amanda, her Daughter, Sarah Dube and her Husband Tom. She had four beautiful Grandchildren, Eliza, Karver, Wyatt & Emma, and several Nieces and Nephews.
Her life was a living example of kindness, and love. If she could have given one last piece of advice it would have been:
Use your voice for kindness,
Your ears for compassion,
Your hands for charity,
Your mind for truth,
And your heart for love.
Please join us to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10a.m. to 11a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am.
