Connie Lee (Clinkenbeard) Templin, age 72, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on September 16, 2020. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 4:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 3:00 PM, at North Cross UMC, 1321 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118.
Connie Lee Clinkenbeard was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the eldest child of Ray and Dorothy Davis Clinkenbeard. The family later moved to Kansas and ultimately settled in Prairie Village. Connie graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School and attended Pittsburg State College. She later attained an Associate Degree from Johnson County Community College.
During her life, Connie lived in Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, and California before settling back in Shawnee, Kansas. She worked in administrative positions for numerous companies until retiring from Waddell and Reed in 2012. She became a square dancer in 1994 and continued dancing for the rest of her life. She was a member of the Heartland Squares (serving as Recording Secretary), KC Plus, and Diamond Rounds.
After meeting through Square Dancing, Connie and Jay married and moved to the Northland in 2014 where they made their home. They attended Meadowbrook UMC until its closing and then joined North Cross UMC where Connie served on the curriculum and social committees of the Inquirers Sunday School Class. Through a member there she learned about and joined the Assistance League of Kansas City. She loved volunteering (and shopping) at the AL Resale shop.
In January of this last year, Connie was diagnosed with the awful disease ALS. She bravely continued to live life to the fullest possible until it took, as they say, her freedom to walk, then talk, and finally to breathe. She took her last breath at home on the morning of September 16, 2020.
Connie is survived by her husband, Jay; his three daughters, Laura, Beth, and Christie, their spouses Greg, Mike, and Mike and their extended families.
As well as her sister, Pamela; brother, Michael, his wife Maurene and their son and Connie’s nephew, Matthew; and a large extended family of step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A host of friends throughout the Kansas and Missouri Square Dance community and many others who knew her as Mom, neighbor, friend or co-worker.
