Before returning home, they lived in West Frankfort, Illinois for 40 years. She was the manager of the city’s public schools lunch program for 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and active in a number of charitable and community organizations. For 93 years, she shared love, laughs and kindness with everyone she met.
Her survivors include her daughter, Dr. Sylvia Ann Thompson, and her granddaughter, Michael-Anne Rauback, both of Miami, Florida. She also leaves her devoted sister and brothers and their spouses, Kitty Kelley (Bud), Johnny Cooley (Pat) and Tom Cooley (Dean), as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Her husband, parents, one sister and three brothers preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, in Tuscaloosa, at 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, April 28. At 2:00 PM, her service will be held in the chapel, with Reverend Gary Youngblood officiating. She will buried beside the love of her life at Memory Hill Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Genery, Daniel Cooley, Rodney Kelley, Brad Battles, Alan Battles, and Roy Davis.
