Ralph A. Parker Jr., 94 of Dartmouth, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 in Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center with his family at his side. He was the husband of Claire (Martin) Parker and his late wife Doris (Greenough) Parker.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Ralph Avery Parker Sr. and Beatrice Rose (Carreau) Parker; a lifelong resident of the southcoast, he was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and the former SMTI. He served as a Signalman in the United States Navy during WWII.
Ralph loved his family, especially his grandchildren; he enjoyed bus trips, crosswords, fishing, Golfing and enjoyed vacationing on West Island when his children were young. He was a member of the Dartmouth Bible Church. A longstanding member and former Commander of the New Bedford Power Squadron, a longtime volunteer at local nursing homes through his ministry; he taught Pioneer Boys and was an elder at Long Plain Baptist Church for many years. He was a Chaplain in Largo, Florida for a 330 home complex for many years where they resided. He volunteered at Saint Anthony’s Soup Kitchen and St. Luke’s Hospital. He was a longtime member of the DAV. Ralph enjoyed going to McDonald’s once a week to meet friends to socialize for many years.
In addition to his wife Claire, he is survived by his children, Charlene Parker and her husband Ronald Mayette of Lakeville, Dennis Parker and his wife Sandra of Nashua, Glen A. Parker and his wife Janice of Berkley, Carol Wright and her husband Michael of Lakeville and Brian Martin and wife Jane of Mattapoisett; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 niece and 2 nephews. He was the brother of the late Earl Parker.
