Clara Ann Henderson Lucy was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on July 15, 1946, and was called home by our Heavenly Father, Lord, and Savior on April 23, 2021, following a courageous and lengthy fight against a terrible illness that has no cure, and within the comfort and surroundings of her home of nearly fifty years in Bryant, Arkansas.
Clara Ann was the youngest of six sisters and, not surprisingly, quickly became the darling of her family. She was quite fond of telling stories of her father taking her to work with him in the general store that he owned in Heber Springs when she was a little girl. Unfortunately, Clara Ann lost her father at the young age of eleven, but she, her elder sisters, and their mother persevered.
In 1965, on December 18, Clara Ann married a fellow by the name of Donald Wayne Lucy, a future Master Electrician and Electrical Instructor for many years. They thereafter shared fifty-five years of love and companionship together. A few years later, in 1969, a son was born and, in 1973, the tiny family built a house in Bryant, Arkansas. Over the next four decades, Clara Ann was a fixture in the Bryant School District as both a substitute teacher and reading-aide until she retired, and is still fondly remembered by many in those roles. She was a faithful member of the North Bryant Baptist Church, which steadfastly prayed for her during her end-of-life.
Clara Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Deward and Beatrice Henderson, her sisters Nettie Bell and Wanda, and her nephew, Sean Foust. She is survived by her sisters June, Wincel, and Bonnie, along with many other cousins, nephews, nieces, and in-laws. In addition, Clara Ann is survived by her husband, her son Terry Don Lucy, and a granddaughter that meant the entire world to her, Reagan Brooke Lucy.
If Clara Ann could have offered words to the world before she was called home, they would have been "I could have danced all night."
