Charles was born October 7th, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to Francis and Lucy Anzalone. He was a long time resident of Valley Stream, New York and graduated from Valley Stream Central High School in 1967. He was a member of the Omega Gamma Delta Fraternity and still got together with many of his fraternity brothers and classmates regularly. He played football and wrestled in high school
After graduation, Charles went to Nassau County Community College, followed by the Police Academy where he became a police officer for the Nassau County Police department at the 4th Precinct. Charles went on to teach for many years at the Police Academy. He retired as a detective with the 4th Squad and worked as a homicide detective during his career.
He lived for many years in Long Beach, New York where he loved going on his boat and belonged to a fishing club. He moved to Richmond, Texas in 2014 to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.
Charles loved watching and going to professional sporting events like the New York Giants and the Yankees but most of all he loved going to his grandchildren’s events. All 6 grandchildren participated in many sports and he was their biggest fan!
Charles spent a lot of time through the years boating, fishing, target shooting, eating delicious food, travelling and being with his family. He loved going to Aruba, visiting New Hampshire and traveling around Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his loving family:Julie and Michael Maiorano; Kathleen Anzalone; Melissa Mejia and her sons Matthew and Brian Schaefer; Amanda Hebling and her daughters Ava and Ella Hebling; Carolyn Caiaccia and her daughters Megan and Kaitlin Caiaccia; Sharon DePauw and many family members and friends who were like family to him.
A memorial service for Charles will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. A catered reception immediately following at Katy Funeral Home. A cremation will occur.
