Rev. Everett G. Tremblay, age 75, of Swansea, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Mass General Hospital peacefully. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Brown) Tremblay to whom he was married to for the past 54 years. They met when Everett was 17 and Nancy was 16, knowing each other most of their lives.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Everett G. Tremblay Sr. and Lucy (Sutcliffe) Tremblay.
As a teenager, Everett attained the highest level in the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout. It was not an easy task which took commitment, dedication and fortitude. These skills would be used during his life throughout the good times and bad.
A graduate of Joseph Case High school, class of 1964, he continued with his education, completing his Associate Degree in Business Management at Fisher Junior College, a diploma of Ministerial Studies from Berean College and finally earning a Bachelor of Theology from Kingsway Christian College and Theological Seminary.
A Veteran of the United States Air Force, he served during the Vietnam War at Da Nang AFB as a Sergeant and as a dog handler where he survived over 40 rocket attacks on the base. He had a special bond with his canine companion, Kobuc X448. He later continued to serve in the United States 215th Army Band of Fall River, where he performed playing both the saxophone and clarinet in many concerts, parades and other military functions.
He was the owner and operator of the locally known, Original Mr. Chimney Sweep for over 40 years and retired in 2018. He also was a dedicated Reverend for 15 years, most recently at the Liberty Christian Center in Taunton, MA where he often assisted with the music ministry, taught Sunday school and on occasion, gave sermons. As a Reverend, he volunteered his time at a few of the local prisons to teach the word of God and help others reform their ways.
A founding member of the Swansea Community Bands, he served as Treasurer in the late 70’s. He performed in both the concert and jazz bands where he even brought his eldest son David into the fold to play in both of those bands.
He spent his time with his family and friends. With a larger-than-life personality, his presence was always noticed as he walked into the room with a smile.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Tremblay and his wife Neli of Attleboro, and Paul J. Tremblay of Fall River; one brother, Michael Tremblay of Fall River; one granddaughter, Alyssa S. DaSilva of Attleboro; several cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces; and of course, his beloved Maine Coon cat Daisy.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 15th, 10am, at the Liberty Christian Center, 159 Winthrop St. Taunton, MA 02780. Relatives and friends invited.
