JV is survived by his wife of 73 years, Helen, his sister Jeanette, his daughters Judi and Jana, his son Jim, his grandchildren: Jesse, Jim, Jason, Jacque, Justin, Jay, Jillian and Thad, plus 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Margie; his brother, Robert; and his parents, James and Bessie.
JV was born in Chiefland, Florida on February 4, 1922; was proud to serve his country in WWII, received many awards for his 40 years in management with Amoco Oil Company, owned his own business:” Market Place Amoco” for 10 years and then enjoyed his retirement. JV always served his church and was an unforgettable influence on everyone he met. He was devoted to his large family and continuously witnessed his faith in God. His wit, humor and famous phrases will never be forgotten. We deeply miss him, but celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
JV’s viewing will at 10AM with funeral to follow at 11AM on Wednesday May 5th at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 14925 Boulevard North Tampa, Florida 33613. The Reverend Dr. Jac Coad will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate JV’s life. He will be buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. following the ceremony.
