Russell was born October 15, 1940 to Russel A. and Goldia (Baumgarden) Spoor.
He was a graduate of El Dorado Springs High School in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, class of 1959. Russell met his future wife in the 8th grade and they were married October 24, 1959. They immediately moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked as a tool and die maker. In 1971 he returned to El Dorado and purchased a restaurant. In 1972 he purchased and operated Hi-way 83 Marina and Resort on Lake Pomme de Terre. A couple of years later he sold the marina and purchased and operated car washes in the El Dorado and Nevada Missouri. In 1979 he returned to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for Bendix Corporation on Bannister Road, eventually retiring as a tooling engineer. He spent the remainder of his retirement in Kansas City, Missouri, enjoying fishing, traveling and watching his grandson play sports.
He was preceded in death by his mother Goldia Spoor, his father Russell A. Spoor, and his siblings Margie Barger, Wilma Caldwell, Waverly Spoor, and Reatha Spoor. He is survived by his wife Mary Spoor of Kansas City, Missouri, brother Hersel Spoor of Kansas City, Missouri, sister Lela Koger of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, sister Linda Wolfe of Buda, Texas, one son Marty Spoor and daughter-in-law Sherry Spoor of Kansas City, Missouri, and one grandson Brandon Spoor of Kansas City, Missouri.
A visitation for Russell will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. A funeral service will follow. Committal service follows in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
