Cathy moved to Lincoln, NE with her mother in 1952 and graduated from Lincoln High School (Class of 1966). She was a University of Nebraska Regent Scholar, a National Merit Scholar, and graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska in 1970 with a B.A. in English. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Scholastic Honorary Society as well as the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
From 1971-1972, Cathy worked at Bankers Life in Lincoln, NE and it was here that she met Walter “Ned” Eduard Nolte, Jr. They were married January 19th, 1973 in Plattsmouth, NE. They moved to Austin, TX in 1975 and Cathy managed “Odd Moments NeedleCrafts” until they moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1977. She worked at Equitable General Insurance and Employers General Insurance for over 20 years as a Systems Analyst.
In her free time, Cathy enjoyed gardening, crafting, quilting, needlepoint, and adding to her impressive Santa collection. She organized several successful Church Bazaars and was an active member of Handley Meadowbrook Christian Church, which is now The Welcome Table Christian Church in Arlington, TX. Together, Cathy and Ned enjoyed discovering and frequenting local restaurants, attending Sunday School functions, and visiting with their family and grandchildren. Cathy will be greatly missed by many and her marriage to Ned is a testament to true love, commitment and friendship.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ned Nolte (80), her daughter Jana Arevalo (38) and Jana’s husband Michael (40); she had three grandchildren whom she loved immensely Maya (14), Jakob (11) and Lucy (8). Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 from 5-7. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 at 2:00. Both services will be held at The Welcome Table Christian Church at 4600 Highwood Dr., Arlington, TX 76016.
