Nathaniel Sharma, affectionately known as Nath to all family members and friends, was a true gentleman at heart. He sadly passed away on April 26, 2021. He is survived by his older sister Chitra, brother Timothy, and younger sister Ruth. He is also survived by multiple nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three elder sisters and one brother. He was born in a British Commonwealth, educated in the United States, and lived most of his life in Houston, Texas. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Sam Houston State University. Through the years, he worked various jobs, but in particular, he spent most times teaching at Houston high schools and community colleges.
At a very early age, Nath was a very curious and studious individual especially for scientific knowledge and beyond. He was known to take electronic devices apart and reassemble them just to understand their inner workings. His mind was boundless, taking on subjects regarding the great mystery of life, the cosmos, the paranormal, alien visitation, and countless other subjects of the great unknown.
Even though he was an avid reader and researcher, he also took time to enjoy his hobbies, which included listening to music, periodically visiting the bowling alley, occasionally playing tennis, and doing weight training as exercise. He was particularly fond of animals and visited zoos and museums at his leisure. Partaking in road trips around Texas was also a fun activity for him.
He was a private person for the most part, but impacted the lives of hundreds of individuals through the years with his vast wealth of knowledge on any subject matter. Particularly, he was very conscientious of physical wellness and hygiene, and frequently gave advice to friends, neighbors, and family members on healthy food choices and things to avoid that could potentially harm one’s health.
Without exception, everyone knew him to be very outspoken and more than willing to chide someone or call out a situation for what it was without holding back his true emotions. At the same time, he was humorous and elicited laughter and joy everywhere he went, even in the most tense of moments.
He was generally contented with the simple things of life and seldom complained even in the harshest of circumstances. This was made clear in the latter part of his life when he was afflicted with multiple health issues. He was accepting, grateful, and thankful to all individuals that helped him through the difficult times.
Nathaniel was raised as a Lutheran but embraced all other religious denominations including attending Catholic masses, and spent time researching Eastern philosophy. He was definitely spiritual with great respect for a divine creator and our unique place in the universe.
He was a man with a generous smile and a beautiful mind. He will be greatly missed.
