Dora Blatt passed away on April 28th, 2021 after a long and fulfilling life.
She was born in Dresden, Germany to Toby and Morris Hahn on November 1st, 1923. Her brother Herbie was born eight years later and she immediately fell in love with him.
Dora was married to Joseph Blatt for 64 years and they had three cherished daughters – Beverly, Arlene And Carol.
Dora’s mother was a woman before her time and believed that her daughter should go to college in order to increase her independence. It put Dora on a meaningful path to her future.
Dora was a proud graduate of Hunter College, a member of the Hunter College Hall of fame, a long time active member of the Hunter College Alumni Association, an elementary school teacher, an opera lover and a voracious reader. But more than all of this, she was a wonderful, loving, warm, generous and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. This is her legacy.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph Blatt, and her oldest daughter, Beverly Hazelkorn. She is survived by her daughters Arlene Blatt (Howard Weitzman) and Carol Blatt, son-in-law Stephen Hazelkorn, grandson, Todd Hazelkorn (Stephanie), granddaughter, Alyse Lefton (Ryan Lefton), great-grandchildren, Eve Hazelkorn, Sue Hazelkorn, Brady Lefton and Charley Lefton and her brother Herb Hahn (Lenore).
Dora will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations can be made to the Hunter College Scholarship and Welfare Fund, 695 Park Avenue, New York, New York, 10065.
