He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Janet P. Ringer; his children, Rickey L. Ringer, Jr. (Pamela) and Mistey Lewis (T.J.), and Travis Oakley (Kathryn); brothers, Harley Ringer and Roger Ringer (Leslie); and grandchildren, Kenly Raines, Kameron Raines, Chloe Ringer, Eli Lewis, Corbin Lewis, Mikayla Oakley, Alyssa Oakley, and Jimmy Oakley.
He was a gentle giant with a huge loving heart. Beyond his human family, Rickey loved to spoil his five special Shitzu buddies: Muffin, Chanel, Coco, Sassy, and Brutus. They were by his side always.
Rickey spent his career building and fixing things, first as an Automotive Service Manager and then as a Builder/Carpenter. He was a man with a gentle spirit and rough hands that knew what it felt like to finish a full days work with pride and respect.
While Rickey enjoyed serving others in these roles, his greatest love was his family and living a simple life. Rickey had a passion for firearms and spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, camping, fishing, and grew an amazing garden. His favorite time of year was hunting season, and he loved to hear the dogs once they jumped a deer.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Please check this website for more information.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his name to Angels N Camo, 532 Ward Road, Washington, NC 27889 (www.angelsncamo.org).
Arrangements are in the care of Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
