It is with great sadness we say goodbye to a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who left our presence.
Born March 9, 1921, in Missouri to Samuel and Lola (Mayes) Kimmons. They preceded her in death.
She married Vernon Clarence Brown on Dec. 23, 1939, in Saint Louis, Mo. They were married for 69 wonderful years. He passed away August 15, 2009.
Surviving are her one son, Jack (Diann Marie) Brown of Henry; one daughter, Suzie (John) Sorenson of Mapleton; six grandchildren, Ann (Chris) Staley of New Jersey, Jeff Sorenson of Glasford, Heidi (Thomas) Dooley of Glasford, Jeremy Brown of Morton, Lisa (Mark) Kawolsky of Glasford and Shane (Tifany) Little; eleven great-grandchildren, Kevin, Katherine, Patrick, Thomas, Johnny, Kennedy, Kage, Adelyn, Taylor, Emory, and Blake.
She was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Pekin and looked forward to participating in many of their events. She was also a member of Eastern Star in Pekin, UAW Groveland, and Caterpillar Retires Club of East Peoria.
Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed keeping up with all the local high school teams as well as the professional teams.
Mary will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Brad Martin will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
