Kay Boykin Babin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Kay was born on July 26, 1936 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kay was a graduate of Catholic High School in 1954 and Louisiana State University in 1968. After college Kay was employed with Vulcan Chemical where he retired. He was a member of the St. Theresa Knights of Columbus Council #2657 and a member of the 4th Degree Knight Assembly Monsieur Leiux #2052, he was a past Grand Knight and he held multiple offices. His faith and devotion shined through all aspects of his life. Kay enjoyed going to all LSU games and was a season ticket holder for 60 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse C. and Elma Gautreau Babin; his favorite aunt, Eva Gautreau Mott. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Gibson Rogers Babin; daughter, MaryKay Babin Richardson (Jordy); grandchildren, Jordan Richardson and Keli Richardson Boudreaux (Grant); great grandchildren, Noah “Graham” and Burke Kay Boudreaux; brother, Ben Babin, Sr. (Mona).
Family and friends of Kay are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Ourso Funeral Home-Gonzales from 8am to 10:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at ST. JOHN CATHOLIC CHURCH-PRAIRIEVILLE at 11am. Interment: Hope Haven Memorial Garden-Gonzales.
