Born February 26, 1973, in Peoria, to William Frank and Barbara Ann (Dismang) Brummitt, he married Cheryl Ann Brown on October 2, 1999 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Morton; one son, Jacob Brummitt of Pekin; one step-son, David (Perish) Doubet of Englewood, Florida; one step-daughter, Catlyn (Patrick) Slavens of Winter Haven, Florida; six grandchildren, Abella Rogers, Jacklyn Slavens, Ashlyn Slavens, Rylee Rogers, Dominick Slavens and Madalyn Slavens; two brothers, Bill (Diane) Brummitt of Morton and Jim (Rebecca) Brummitt of East Peoria, and two sisters, Tonya (Ron) Krus of Germantown Hills, and Jennifer (Tim) Defebaugh of Mackinaw. He also leaves his in-laws, Sarah (Don) Sill of Pekin, and Sonny (Debbie) Brown of Englewood, Florida.
A 1991 graduate of East Peoria Community High School, Brian was an exceptional athlete, focusing mostly on wrestling in high school and co-ed volleyball for almost 20 years after. Brian found new hobbies in Florida, enjoying boating and fishing.
Brian worked for the United States Postal Service for nearly 30 years, last working as the Station Manager in Bartonville IL, before retiring to Florida. Most recently,
Brian worked as A Handy Home Inspector, in Cape Coral, FL.
Brian focused all of his attention on his family and relished in the role of grandpa. He was the first to help and the last to complain. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him for his laughter and his brilliant sense of humor that brought joy to family and friends.
The graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 7, 2021 at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL. Doug Anderson will officiate. Arrangements are made by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
