Jim was born in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on October 20, 1931 to the late Louis and Mary (Rose) Gory. Jim graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and went on to work for Babcock and Wilcox in the Nuclear Power Division from 1955 to 1966. Jim then started Beaver Explosives and successfully operated the business for 20 years before selling it. He owned several other successful businesses in his lifetime. In 1955, Jim married Delphine Seginak and enjoyed 55 years together until she passed in January of 2010. Jim enjoyed spending his free time golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He enjoyed hosting large family gatherings and preparing his signature dishes for all.
Jim is survived by his four children: Ellen (Bill) Ballance, James (Crystal) Gory, John (Rosemary) Gory, and Pete (Bonnie) Gory; four grandchildren: Amy, Ian, Joshua, and Chelsea; two siblings, Patricia Gardner and Fred Gory, and many other extended family members.
Along with his wife and parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Pressley, and brother, Elliot Gory.
Calling hours for Jim will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private funeral service for family will follow. Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife, Delphine at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to American Cancer Society.
