Marcie was a wonderful friend and awesome co-worker, who would do anything to help if she was able.  She had a witty sense-of-humor, loved the Japanese culture and enjoyed what she did in being a teacher.  Her students will benefit from years to come in all the knowledge that she imparted.  I loved her deeply.  She was one of my special friends.

Marcie was one of those folks that you knew exactly what you were dealing with when you meet her within the first few moments.  I could sit here and say that she brings light and happiness to everyone, and that is indeed the case, but what she is remembered by (for me especially) was her undying passion for everything she does.  Regardless of how bad things get, she found humor behind it.  Regardless of how upset she'd have a right to be about something, she wouldn't want the other person to feel uncomfortable.  This is a very difficult personality maintain to unless one was being disingenuous, but somehow Marcie was 100% honest about her disposition.  She genuinely was and always had been a Kind person person no matter what the circumstances were.  She Honestly wanted to help people in need, or just make light of an unhappy situation.  You can't fault her; she is the real deal.  

Will she be remembered for the fun times, of course!  But it is the her HONESTY and INTEGRITY that will stick with us - and from that which she leaves behind, will grow with the hundreds of lives she had touched.

I have no doubts where she is going, and she wants to us to remember that, too. 


Marcie, your smile and joy at helping students shine are greatly missed, but the impact you had on our school community and the students you served with heart and love is timeless. 

 It was your 41st birthday. We celebrated your life. Your sister, your niece, your amazing husband, and your mom, and I were with you. We caught the flash of an angel. You were in lofty form. God blessed you one last time to lead us into worship with the powerful, and profound gift He had given you. You lifted that Divine voice, as we joined with you for that worship night. The voice we will never forget. The moments we will always remember. You were radiant. The glory of God was resting on you. We absorbed that moment, and we were lifted into a spiritual place. We were caught up into a place where the Spirit led us. We sang the songs that helped our hearts find courage to believe God with you.  We were changed. Your faith strengthened ours. We absorbed your spirit. It would be one of the last times we would have the chance to admire your earthly garment. You would soon have a new, perfected, incorruptible garment. The Spirit of the Lord was upon you. You were in rare form. You were changing from human, to the Divine. Now, you live with God. You are perfected. We must lift our hearts to the heavens to be close to you now. It’s with great reverence we honor your spirit, and lay down your earthly garment for a little while. It won’t be long until we see you again. Enjoy your Sabbath. It will have no end. Your work on earth is done. You finished strong. We still have some work to do, so we will see you soon. The vineyard is not the same without you. I love you; and I’ll miss you, until the morning. 

I have so many memories of Marcie: her contagious laugh that poured from her eyes and entire body, her beautiful, powerful alto voice, the way she loved big, and gave 100% to everything. I was so impressed with how brave she was teaching herself Japanese when she was so young, and that she would speak it to Japanese strangers on the streets in Oahu when we were on choir tour when she was 19 years old , and it didn't phase her if they didn't speak back to her. I remember how star struck she would get, too. When I first knew her, she had a celebrity crush on David Hyde Pierce, and then a year later she followed The Rock all around LA. She was fun, playful, loving, kind, beautiful, and so stubborn all in one fiery little package. I always wonder if she knew what a tremendous impact she had on others. It was as though she lived 120 years worth of life in her 41 years.
