Annette was born right before midnight on May 31st, 1973, in Konin, Poland, a country in the Eastern Bloc of Europe. Annette was very superstitious and often joked she managed to get things done last minute, just how she was born on the very last day of the month. She was the first child of Henryka and Daniel Szałapscy, and still to this day, her mother Henryka recounts the day when Annette was born. “Most beautiful hair colour” is what everyone cried out from amusement as they saw her deep mahogany-red hair; some even dared to assume that this little angel’s hair was dyed! Annette had deep brown eyes, pale skin, and freckles, she had a unique beauty, and there was always something mystical to her look, something otherworldly.
Indeed, Annette was a well-respected psychic, famous in her native country Poland. She appeared in multiple magazines, journals, and a few TV shows. She gained her popularity through her passion and gift in palmistry, angel card reading, clairvoyance, and astrology. Annette helped thousands of people; through her channeling abilities, she discovered mysteries and even helped law enforcement solve the unsolvable. She spent extensive hours reading scientific journals in her free time, mostly about physical anthropology, archeology, and meteorology.
In recent years, Annette also liked to handcraft artisan soaps, a similar hobby to her father Daniel's sculptor career. Annette enjoyed living in different places; at heart, she was a traveler and she always found time to visit unknown lands. Annette lived in Poland, Greece, France, United Kingdom, and in the past nine years, she spent her life in the U.S. Her passion to travel and respect for the world's cultures was shared with her older daughter Katie, also known as Kasia, who turned this inspiration into research studies at UC Berkeley. Her second daughter, Agata, an artist at heart, also gave Annette a great sense of joy and pride. Around Annette, one would never feel dull. There was always something new and exciting to learn from Annette’s great knowledge, sense of humour, and enthusiasm. There was not a single day that she would miss her opportunity to smile or laugh. She was full of love, inspiration, and sweetness, the input she gave to this world will last for centuries. Annette, you will be remembered forever.
