Sondra was born in Logansport, Indiana to Eugene and Mary Louise Hipsher on September 16, 1941. She was preceded in death by her daughter and angel Tricia. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 43 years Greg; Daughter Terry, Allen; Daughter Mary Lynn, Donny; Sister Janie, Charles; Grandson Christopher, Theresa; Great Grandsons Austin and Hunter.
Sondra had a unique zest for life, always putting family first. She never met a stranger and had a strong infinity for helping all who needed it, no matter the cost.
Her passion was all animals, but especially training, showing, and rescuing German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers. She raised and created numerous AKC champion dogs in her lifetime and was a pillar in the dog world community.
Traveling fed Sondra’s soul, always yearning to relish in the beauty of God’s handy work. This enthusiasm took her to places like Alaska, Canada, England, Hawaii and all over the United States. Her favorites being New York City, Las Vegas, and Key West. Sondra has, just to mention a few, been within 10 feet of polar bears in Churchill, Canada, dog sledded from the top of a glacier in Alaska, motor boated with killer whales in Washington State, white water rafted in Colorado, stood inside a volcano in Hawaii, and swam with dolphins in Key West.
Sondra enjoyed stock car racing. Daytona and Talladega fueled her fiery and feisty side, which could never be denied. Family race team with her husband at the wheel, completed that side of her. Number 51 was given to the first race car, chosen by her, to represent a family of five together as one.
Sondra was also a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. In fact, her first date with Greg, in 1977, was a trip to Dallas from Albuquerque, New Mexico for a Cowboys game.
Sondra, lovingly known as “Mommy” by many, was a strong, powerful, beautiful, and kind soul adored by all. There will never be another like her and we will miss her more than words can express.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Earthman SW Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you donate to The Houston Humane Society in her honor. 14700 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas 77053
