Richard A. Scarlavai, age 87, of Keyser, West Virginia, passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia on May 2, 2021. Richard is survived by his wife Mary of Keyser, West Virginia; Brothers Robert and Ronald of White Cloud, Michigan; Daughter Rosemarie (Michael) Balch of Fraser, Michigan; Sons Michael (Anna) of Noblesville, Indiana, and Richard “Rick” (Maureen) of St. Simons Island, Georgia; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Antoinette Scarlavai, first wife Rosemarie (Nee Kenny) Scarlavai, son James R. Scarlavai, brother Albert Lombardi, and great-grandson Connor.
Richard was a retiree of the Detroit Fire Department. He also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He later served in the Army Air Reserves and Desert Storm, working on the Abrams Tank Repair Crew in Germany.
A visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 PM, and 6-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. A funeral service will follow Monday morning also at Resurrection Funeral Home at 11 AM, with graveside service and military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
