After many close calls - tripping into an empty swimming pool, suffering a stroke, an aortic aneurism, a heart attack, and countless falls - on Friday, May 7, 2021, William K. Tang reunited with his wife, Helen, in Heaven. He passed away peacefully, cracking jokes, and surrounded by his children, Cheryl, Rob, Gayle, Julie, and Janice. He is with Jesus.
Bill was born on March 28, 1930, in Phoenix, to Henry and Mah Shee Tang. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, he walked through life simply - with quick wit and quiet strength. Known and loved wherever he went, he will be remembered for his lightheartedness, persistent teasing, and ability to make everybody feel like somebody.
We will miss the loudest cheerleader in the bleachers, the driver that would stop traffic to pick up golf balls, the man down the street with the best lawn in the khaki cargo shorts. He loved simple things, but he loved them fiercely. He loved his work, running Henry Lung Market and socializing with everyone that came through the doors. He loved sports, as an athlete playing - softball, bowling, basketball, tennis, and golf, and as a fan watching - Diamondbacks, Cardinals, and Suns games on TV. He loved UofA, rooting against his loyal ASU Sun Devil children. He loved eating, any home-cooked meal would be his first choice, or he loved frequenting the same restaurants over and over and over - Carolina's, Knock Kneed Lobster, Miracle Mile Deli, Super Dragon, In-N-Out, and Cane's. He loved gardening and farming, working in the hot Phoenix sun and raising everything from Chinese vegetables and roses to fluffy, white lambs he would bottle feed. He loved his family, cheering for them and poking fun at them every chance he had.
He led by example, with humility, humor, courage, and tenacity. He lived his life on his terms, and passed away the proudest father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. We will miss him so much.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. We will be celebrating Bill's life together from 4-8 p.m.
Words of sympathy and remembrances can be mailed to: Bill K. Tang Family, 16699 E. Berry Lane, Centennial, CO 80015.
