Perhaps, Darian Spencer Chasteen wasn’t born with superpowers when he entered the world on September 15, 1965 in Jeffersonville, IN to Bill and Joyce Chasteen; but his super strength, unwavering faith, and beaming light for Jesus certainly shined brightly as Superman traded his cape for angel wings and flew, in glorious victory, cheered on by his stunning wife and incredible children, to rest in the arms of Jesus, Friday May 7, 2021. Superman was called home after a nearly 4 year battle with the nefarious villain, Cancer (Soft tissue sarcoma), who has plagued our society for far too long. HE WON as we all knew he would.
Civilians may know Superman best as Darian, DC, or Boss, and thank him for his service protecting our city through his career as a civil engineer, spending the past 31 years with the US Army Corps of Engineers. D spent 20 years as Chief of River Engineering, and under his leadership, River Engineering reshaped navigation on the mighty Mississippi River. He was recently awarded the Bronze De Fleury Medal for his outstanding service, dedication and contribution to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Darian was welcomed into heaven by his brother, Vince Chasteen, and both are racing Hot Rods in Heaven. Commissioned to carry on D’s legacy, along with his parents, are his high school sweetheart and beautiful soulmate; Leanne Sammons Chasteen, daughter; Dr. Ashley Chasteen Morgan (Matt), son; Spencer Chasteen, sister; Michelle Chasteen Cantwell and the light of his life, his granddaughters; Lucy and London Morgan.
Visitation will take place Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 12pm – 2pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2pm at the Collierville United Methodist Church Poplar Sanctuary. At Superman’s request, only happy tears will be accepted. Please leave your traditional funeral garb in the closet and come in your most joyful attire, prepared to get your Praise on!
