Janice was the daughter of John Franklin Jasper and Grace Zachary Jasper. She was loved by her brother John Jasper, Anthony Jasper and sister Marcia Jasper Wienzierl. She also had a very special connection to her cousin, Patricia Zachary Ogrodowski, who fell ill to the same.
Janice was born and raised in Grand Island, NY. Janice was a graduate of Niagara High School and went on to attend Fredonia College for her undergraduate education. She proceeded to Middlebury College in Vermont for her Master’s in Spanish where she took a study abroad course in Madrid, Spain. It was there where she met her husband, (Col) Douglas Spencer Thornblom. As an Army wife, and an educated woman, Janice held various jobs that coincided with deployment ranging from a professor of Spanish at American University in Washington DC to her final job as a Spanish teacher at the prestigious West Lake High School in Austin, Texas. Upon marrying Douglas, Janice was graced with his daughter, Christina Lynn Kish. Soon thereafter, Janice gave birth to Nichole Marie Bronson and later Karinne Lee Sanchez. Janice’s legacy includes her beloved grandchildren: Taylor Grace Gallagher, Nicholas Emeric Kish, Alexa Nichole Bronson, and Charlie Marin Sanchez. After traveling/living throughout the globe, Janice chose to make Austin, Texas her home. It was there she made great friends, enjoyed Zumba/running marathons, and was a doting Granmimi and mother. She is forever loved, and known as a woman who was fierce and bold for her time. We love you Mom.
Because our mother fought so hard against Parkinson's disease for 17 years, we ask that in lieu of flowers, friends and family consider a memorial donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, www.michaeljfox.org/donate.
