Ella May (Statler) Evans of Freedom Village, Holland, Michigan, passed away on May 11, 2021. She was born May 5, 1926 to the late Charles H. and B. Grace Statler of Chambersburg, PA. On July 11, 1953, she married John L. Evans who passed away on April 10, 1994. She was also preceded in death by brothers Arthur and Marvin Statler. Surviving is a niece, Judy Rock (Ron) of Williamsport, PA, and a nephew-in-law, Paul Rees (Lori) of Fowler, OH.
After graduating from Chambersburg Area High School and West Chester State Teachers College, both in Pennsylvania, she taught music in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Michigan. Ella May retired from the Grandville School District and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Her true love was teaching and in retirement she enjoyed many international trips, attending concerts, and volunteering.
Ella May's pastor, Rev. Bradley Bartelmay, of the First United Methodist Church of Holland, will
conduct a committal service at 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2897 Patterson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids. It was her wish to be remembered, "with a song in my heart."
