Harriet “Beryl” Hawkins Brown was born July 27, 1925, to Cliff and Sue McDaniel in Rifle, Colorado. She passed away in Grand Junction on May 30, 2021. She was 95 years old. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by her step-mother, Adelia. She has lived in the area all her life. Mom was in the restaurant business from the time she was a little girl to her retirement years. She was skilled in all aspects of the food service business and owned her own restaurant.
Beryl had five sisters: Shirley, Hallie, Phyllis, Carolyn, and three brothers: Bud, Carl, and Miles all deceased. Janet Barnes is the only living sister. She outlived three husbands: Johnnie Scott, Melvin Hawkins, and John Brown. She raised six children: Robert (deceased), Mike, Melva Jean, Monty (deceased), Jody, and Tim (deceased).
Beryl has 70 descendants: 6 children, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren.
Beryl was an outstanding mother that was able to put up with all the shenanigans that her active children created. She loved family get togethers and loved watching all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren in their daily activities. She was loved and admired very much and will be missed dearly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 5-7 PM at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Graveside, Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Palisade Cemetery.
