John Robert “Bob” Bright, 87 of Lancaster, Ohio passed from this life on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. He was born May 6, 1934 at the Bright family farm near Lancaster, Ohio, the son of Ferdinand Reber and Mary Florence (Wygum) Bright. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a lifelong farmer. He was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church, Lancaster, and loved square dancing, playing dartball and cards, spending time with family, and walks with his faithful canine companion Skippy.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Trina (Kelley Scott) Thornton and Joel (Bonnie) Bright; step-sons Jeff (Debbie) Brown and Jim Brown; nine grandchildren, Joshua (Stacia) Thornton, Laura (Jared) Carson, Elizabeth (Michael) Watson, Virginia (Jamison) Taylor, Jared Bright, Trevor Bright, Tara (Josh) Hochradel, Ashley (Logan) Knerr, Heather Brown; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law John (Kathy) Horn, Kevin (Doreen) Horn, Tim (Diana) Horn; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his friend and fellow dog walker Dave Lamascola. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Reber (Maxine) Bright and Ruth (Nial) Cooper, and sister-in-law Dorothy Primmer.
Cremation is being handled with care by Halteman-Fett & Dyer in Lancaster. No visitation or services will be held. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the immediate family at a later time. Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Fairfield Area Humane Society. A special thanks to the staff at Crestview Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Services for their care of Bob during his final months of life.
