He was the beloved husband of the late Grace Digirolamo Giroir. He is survived by his children, Vickie Reneau (Kenneth), John Giroir Jr. (Tiphanie), Lisa Russo (Darby) and Mark Giroir; grandchildren, Erin Knobloch, Victoria Reneau, Kristin Tabb (Michael), Candace Ariza (Frank), Kassy Giroir, David Gunn, Ryan Hemstad (Amy), Laine Hemstad (Lauren), Nicholas Hemstad (Elise), and Jade Hemstad; and great-grandchildren, Evan Knobloch, Sullivan Tabb, Leo Ariza, Ryan Black, Ford Black, J.D. Hopson, Easton Hopson, Kiley Adkins, Jensen Hemstad, Nicholas Hemstad Jr., and Creed Hemstad. He is also survived by in-laws, Santa Trosclair, Myrt Digirolamo, Salvador Digirolamo (Deannie), Betty Mire, and Rose Songy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcee and Ida Vicknair Giroir; sisters, Elsie Darensburg (Richard), Alice Mae Hymel (Norman), Myrtle Torres (E.J.); and in-laws, Joseph and Josephine Ciravolo Digirolamo, Marie and Harold Robert, Nicholas Digirolamo, and Paul Mire.
Kirby was very proud of his time serving his country in the United States Navy as a 3rd CL signalman on the USS Ulvert M. Moore in the Pacific theater during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 195 in Norco. He retired from Shell Oil Company in Norco after 35 years. Kirby loved spending time with his family and fishing in Grand Isle for many years. He loved to socialize and never met a stranger.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 401 Spruce St., Norco, LA. Visitation will be held from 10AM-11AM with a Mass to begin at 11AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
