Sophie was born on February 24, 1923 and raised on a farm in Forest River, Dakota. She moved to California when she was 20 years old. She met Clifford Gordon at a Strawberry Festival and married him when she was age 25. They lived over the years in the San Fernando valley: in Glendale, Pacoima, Van Nuys, and Sun Valley. She was a parishioner of St. Genevieve's Catholic Parish for over 65 years, since
1956. Her daughter, Evelyn Gordon and son Clifford Gordon both attended school for 12 years at St. Genevieve's Elementary and High School. She retired from Great Western Savings & Loan as a loan processor. She was a King and loving person, anyone who met her loved her.
She was preceded in death by her sister Gertrude Hewitt of Minto, ND, husband Clifforn Elmer Gordon, Son Clifford Stanley Gordon and daughter-in-law Linda Hansen-Gordon. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Gordon Whiteley of Littleton, CO; 5 Grandchildren, Seth Cameron Whiteley (Jessi Karls), Stephen
Clifford Whiteley (Lanette Whiteley), Shaun Clark Whiteley (Karlice Morris) from the Denver area of CO: Jena Linda Gordon and Evan Clifford Gordon (Carl Gordon) of South Lake Tahoe CA.: and 12 Great-Grandchildren, Samantha Grace Whiteley, Savanah Cameron Whiteley, Stephen Christopher Whitely, Shelby Corrine Whiteley, Spencer Clark Whiteley, Robert James Green, Shaun Cody Whiteley, Skylah Claire Whiteley, Sebastian Gordon, Troy Gordon, Sophia Gordon, and Bryce Demytriw. When had a good long life and was a very loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and will be sorely missed by all.
A funeral service for Sophie will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Van Nuys, 5940 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91401.
