Irene (Kloc) Opalacz, 93, widow of Anthony F. Opalacz, of Wethersfield, passed away on Friday June 4, 2021. Irene was born in Hartford and was daughter to the late John and Jennie (Gladkowski) Kloc. Before her retirement, Irene had been employed by the Travelers Ins. Co., was active in the Travelers Women’s Club and Bowling League. She enjoyed taking trips with family members. She remained an active bowler in the local Seniors’ league and enjoyed activities at the town community center. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, reading and working on puzzles.
Irene will be remembered for her lively spirit, always enjoying a good laugh. She crocheted beautiful afghans and needlepoint for her family. Irene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed napping with the family cat, Shadow; being the first at the door when she heard the ice cream truck and going for car rides.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters; Jeanette, Janina, Debbie and Lorrie, sons-in-law Paul and Alan, three grandchildren, Doug, Rob and Cassie, two great grandchildren; Orianna and Jacob, one nephew and several nieces. Besides her husband, Irene was predeceased by her two sons; Anthony and Robert Opalacz, a brother, Theodore Kloc and sister, Stella Quattropani.
