It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Carol, our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, at St. Boniface Palliative Care on June 3, 2021.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her son Gordon Taylor (Nicolette Jaman); stepson Brad (Kelly) Pinkerton; dearly loved grandchildren Hayden and Callie Pinkerton; brother Steve (Phyllis) Waite and sons Robert, Michael, and Peter, and their families; sister-in-law Kathleen (Jack) Peterson; niece Jane (John) Van Massenhoven and sons Blake and Luke; nephew John (Kathy) Peterson and sons Sam, Riley, Isaac, and Kale; and many close, wonderful friends.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, John Pinkerton, and her parents Fred and Lorraine Waite.
Carol was a loving, caring, and generous lady who focused on providing the best for her family. She would always look forward to the next family function, ensuring the house was perfectly decorated and the food was plentiful and delicious. Carol adored her grandchildren and would look forward to sleepovers, attending hockey and soccer games, and hearing about everything they were involved in. Carol loved to travel. Some of her favourite times were spent in Montserrat, Nantucket, Minneapolis, Clearwater Bay, Balsam Bay, and Lynn Lake. She was always able to find shopping wherever she went and managed to come home with a full car or an extra suitcase full of thoughtful purchases for everyone. As her trips became shorter, she loved her outings to Lockport and South Beach. Throughout her life, Carol developed many strong and meaningful friendships. She loved spending time with her friends in person or on the phone, and wanted to learn how everyone was doing. Carol was a genuine and honest person and surrounded herself with the same. She was quick witted and had a sharp sense of humour that kept everyone on their toes.
A huge thank you to Dr. T. Racette for her years of kind and compassionate care and to the entire Palliative Care team at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional care and attention during Carol’s final days.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service for family and close friends will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Carol’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or CancerCare Manitoba.
