Graveside Services will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Necessity Cemetery in Necessity, TX outside of Breckenridge. Family and friends are welcomed to gather by 9:30 AM on the morning of the service at Lighthouse Apostolic Church 1509 E Walker St, Breckenridge, TX 76424 to process to the cemetery together. Following the graveside service and inurnment family and friends are welcomed back to the Lighthouse Church for visitation and reception.
Jerry was born in Breckenridge, on May 20, 1939 to the late Rev. Henry Clinton and Maudie (Smith) Knight. He was raised in North Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from Las Cruses High School in Las Cruses, NM in 1958. He began working for AT&T in 1962 his civilian career was interrupted for his military service. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and served his country both faithfully and honorably and was recipient of the Medal of Good Conduct. Following his military career, he went back to AT&T and he later transitioned into the construction industry where he worked various positions. He was experienced and detailed in his profession and was often in leadership roles such as Forman, and consultant. He married the former Johnnie Bogard on May 14, 1993 there marriage began the blending of two families together. He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse in Breckenridge, TX. Jerry had a great love for the outdoors and loved fishing. He was very mechanical and always had a project from repairing and restoring old boats and tractors to roping and riding his favorite horse, B.C. He also loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He made his love for music a blessing to the residents of the local nursing homes. Jerry was a loyal family member and friend and was intentional with keeping in contact. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, and helping those who he loved and cared about most.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nolan and Norman Knight; brother-in-law, Jack Croker; and sister-in-law, Nancy Knight.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Johnnie Knight; children, Jason Knight and his wife, Lori Knight, Jack Bogard, Candi Hitch and her husband, Stephen, and Tracy Yarbrough and her husband, Matt Yarbrough; grandchildren, Chad Knight and his wife Megan, Brooks Knight and his wife Corley, Austin, Katya, Allie, and Jack Bogard, Jr., Bailee, Macee, and Braeden Russell, Bailey and, Ethan Hitch, Kendra, Jake and his wife, Nikki, Joe, and Nichole Yarbrough , 8 great-grandchildren, his brothers, Aaron and his wife Teresa, Butch and his wife Glenda, Richard, and Michael Knight and his wife, Carla; his sisters, Vessie Croker, and Peggy Moore and her husband, Tony; sister-in-law, Gwen Knight; numerous other cousins, special nieces, nephews, and friends.
