He was a lifelong resident of Progreso, TX. Eligio is survived by his loving wife Socorro Castillo, of 57 years; his children: Phyllis (Walter) De La Rosa, Leonor (Johnny) Caballero, Sandra (Jorge) Maldonado, Martha (Jorge) Montaño, Eligio (Adelina) Castillo; his sisters: Maria (Dario) Ruiz, Olivia (Enrique †) Basaldua, Dari (Albert†) Williams; his 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Eligio & Maria Castillo, his sister, Margarita (Cano) Soto, and his grandson, Walter De La Rosa Jr.
He was a loving, caring father and a devoted grandfather. He was the pillar of our family and was sought out for his honest and direct advice. We will always remember the lessons he taught us and cherish the time that we had with him. All who knew him, will remember him as a great storyteller and someone who would always make you laugh.
He spent his life devoted to his loving wife of 57 years in a relationship where they depended on and cared for each other through every challenge life had for them. He enjoyed many things, but what he enjoyed most in life was sitting outside reading his newspaper in order to keep up with current events, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching many of his favorite shows such as The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. We love you daddy.
