Wayne Cross, 73, of Lithia Florida, passed away on June 3rd 2021 from complications of a bone marrow transplant after a brave nine month battle with leukemia. He was born in Battle Creek Michigan on July 12th, 1947 to Harold and Lura Cross and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. After graduating from Kokomo High School in 1965 he enlisted in the Air Force. Following his service he earned a political science degree at the University of South Florida. After graduating he began a long and diversified career in the insurance industry and was still active until his death.
In 1965 he met Joan Merrill, of Tampa, Florida, and they married on November 30th 1968. They had two children Jarrett Eaton Cross and Richard Matthew Cross. Wayne was a loving husband and father. He spent his time traveling, golfing, modeling trains and rooting for his beloved Detroit Lions.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Lithia, Florida; two sons, Jarrett Cross and wife Kristen of Cumming, Georgia; grandsons, Brennan and Donovan; Matthew Cross of Lithia Florida; sister Gail Crago of Bradenton; two nieces, Beth Crago and Kimberly Crago.
