Josephine was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1934. It was in San Antonio where she found her Christian faith, and met her husband, Leonard C. Gray. Josephine and Leonard later moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their 12 children (6 boys, 6 girls).
Josephine was a faithful wife, a dedicated mother, and loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Above all, she was a devout Christian. Her unyielding Christian faith sustained her throughout her life and was evident until she took her last breath. Josephine always shared and spoke of her faith and love of God with all those that she met. She enjoyed attending church services daily, even when she was in the hospital. She is well-known by her spiritual brothers and sisters for her dedication to God and his message.
Josephine is predeceased by grandmother, Urbana Suarez, her mother Dolores Garcia, her husband Leonard C. Gray, her son, Leonard G. Gray, her daughter-in-law Dora Gray, and grandson, Tobias Gray.
Josephine is survived by her children, Maria (Robert) Villanueva, David Gray, Samuel (Esther) Gray, Daniel (Adrianna) Gray, Elizabeth (Vincente) Quezada, Rebekah (Arnold) Sanchez, Josephine (Samuel) Rodriguez, Rachel (Jose) Lievanos, Martha (Ruben) Coronado, John (Araceli) Gray, and Ronald (Ana) Gray. She is also survived by 71 grandchildren, 153 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm at Brookside Memorial Funeral Home (13747 Eastex Fwy. Houston, Texas 77039). The funeral service will be held at 10:30-10:45am on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Brookside Memorial Funeral Home (13747 Eastex Fwy. Houston, Texas 77039) and the burial will follow immediately after.
