Ann Catherine Carter Brooks, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was a faithful member of Hunter Station Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught a ladies Sunday School class for many years. She lived most of her life in the Grovewood Community in Montgomery and worked for the state of Alabama for 27 years. She was employed in the purchasing division in the Finance Department, and then worked in the Department of Public Safety from where she retired. Ann will be remembered for the unconditional love she had for her family and her friends. To know her was to love her.
Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Reece Brooks; her infant son, Reece Eugene Brooks; as well as her siblings, Inez Schoepner, Fate Carter, Jr., James Carter, Mary Sue Parker, and Gary Carter.
Loving survivors include her children, Debbie Baxley (Glenn), Reece Michael Brooks (Mary Ann); her grandchildren, David Baxley (Allison), Brian Baxley (Meaghan), Joshua Brooks, Malorie Gray (Jae); great grandchildren, Brooks Baxley, Barrett Baxley, Bennett Baxley, Brantley Gray, and Lauren Gray.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Leak Memory Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm. Rev. Earl Wise officiating. A private burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Baxley, Brian Baxley, Joshua Brooks, Jae Gray, Joey Alford, and Mark Alford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
