Earl J. Lawless August 16, 1924 - June 10, 2021. It is with great sadness but even greater gratitude for a long, admirable life, the family shares the news of his passing in his home of 56 years. Preceded in death by his loving wife and son, Monzelle and John Lawless. He was cherished by his children Julia, Mark (wife Rhonda), Shannon (wife Wendy) Lawless, grandchild Gabriel “Gabe” (wife Jennifer) Mullinax, and great-grandchildren Sam, Chayton, and Allie Mullinax; along with many step-grandchildren and his Long Key Beach family. Earl, Daddy, Granddaddy was loved for his grace, wisdom, and accepting nature by all who knew him.
Staff Sergeant Lawless was a proud veteran of the United States Army and recipient of two Bronze Stars for acts of heroism and merit under combat. He served in the 66th Black Panther Division, 42nd Rainbow Division, “Panthers Under The Rainbow” that took Omaha Beach and liberated Dachau in WWII. An experience that forever shaped the value he placed on all life and peace.
A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Berry Highland South located at 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN.
