Fred Morse, III was born on October 7, 1946, in Austin, Texas, the son of Mary and Fred Morse, Jr. He was educated in the Austin public schools. At Austin High, he played football, graduating in 1965. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He then received a master’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.
Fred moved to Dallas where he worked for the Trammel Crow Company. In 1983 he returned to Austin where he became a real estate investor. He had a lifelong interest in history and was active in the Austin Civil War Roundtable. Fred was an avid sports fan and played chess. He was a kind uncle. At holiday gatherings, he often surprised his young nieces and nephews with thoughtfully chosen gifts.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Scott Morse of Austin, Texas and by his nieces and a nephew and their families in Denver, Colorado and New Orleans, Louisiana.
The family will hold a private memorial service for Fred to celebrate his life. Donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
