November 18, 1962 – June 14, 2021
Jeanine was the daughter of George and Jean Medlin from Flushing. She is the sister of Roger, Denise, George and Brain; and cousin to Roseanne, Sandra, Roberta and Judy, who all grew up in the same house.
Jeanine had sixteen aunts and uncles and too many cousins and second cousins to count. She was an aunt to three Monaghan’s from her sister Denise: Michael, Corinne, and Maureen; two Medlin’s from her brother Brian: Kimberly and Kathleen; and two from her brother George: George and Kyle.
Jeanine adored her sister Denise and her sister-in-law Barbara, who cared for her medical issues and always made sure she was spoiled for her birthday and Christmas.
Being born with Down’s Syndrome, Jeanine had simple pleasures; she loved to color, listen to and watch Disney songs and movies, go clothes shopping with Denise and Broadway shows for her birthday with Barbara. Most of all, she loved celebrating her birthday with her family.
After the death of her parents, she lived with her sister Denise and brother-in-law Mike for several years before moving to an AHRC group home in Bayville. She grew to love her house mates and the staff at the home. Most recently, the home was managed by Pavitra Latchman who was so kind to Jeanine and to her family.
Jeanine spent her last weeks at Syosset Hospital and the Northwell Hospice, Mary Ann Tully Inn.
The kindness and care she received was beyond expectations. She was treated with great respect and dignity; she was always clean, and all of her medical needs were fulfilled with skill and compassion.
Her closest family members came to comfort her in her final days at hospice. She was loved by her family and will be missed.
