She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Talbert Jones, Jr, her parents, Leavy and Nannie Brock, and siblings, Elna Oleta Young, Edith Inez Howard and William Eugene Brock. Fay leaves behind her brother in law David (Mary) Jones and a multitude of loving nephews and nieces. Fay loved her family dearly and catered to them all.
Fay lived most of her early years in Youngstown, Florida. She graduated from Bay County High School in 1942 and was proud to attend several of their reunions. Fay moved to Mobile, Alabama and worked in the accounting department at the GM&O Railroad as a freight auditor from 11-20-46 until her retirement 9-02-1983. This is where she met John Talbert Jones, Jr. They married on Feb.12, 1952. Fay and Johnny lived a good life in Mobile; they were talented in so many areas of interests. Fay and Johnny were avid square dancers; she was very talented in making her own square dance dresses and Johnny's shirts. Fay was an award winning Orchidist and orchid fancier and a member of the Mobile Area Orchid Society. She cross-bred a number of varieties of orchids. She created and named one orchid variety after her mother, Nannie and proudly hung an award for "Mr. Greengenes" on her wall as another variety she created. Fay was an excellent cook and was never intimidated by trying new recipes and usually succeeded in the outcome.
Fay was a member of Hillcrest Road Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class and would have lunch with the ladies often. She later moved her membership to Government Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Somerby of Mobile and Crowne Healthcare of Springhill for the wonderful care that was provided to our beloved Aunt Fay.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to honor her memory in a donation to one of her favorite charities: St. Jude, Shriners Hospital and Folds of Honor.
