Hyannis - George H. Lawton, 59, died unexpectedly July 11, 2021, at home. On July 14, 1961, he was born at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA, and was the son of Susan Rose Spurling who lives in Sandwich, MA and the late George F. Lawton of Braintree.
After graduating from Braintree High School, George attended the Norwich University ROTC degree program and attended Ranger School, enlisting in the U.S. Army. He loved football and was Captain of his High School football team, continuing football in college. George loved all sports and never missed a good football or basketball game!
George (Georgie to family) will be best remembered as one with a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room! His love for family and especially for his Mother was beyond measure. Humility graced his presence, touching all who knew him.
Surviving relatives include his loving step-father, Daniel Spurling of Sandwich, sister, Heidi Lawton-McCarthy and husband Michael of Middleboro, sister Danielle Spurling Rose and her husband Robert of Plymouth, brother, David Spurling and his wife Jennifer of Sandwich, niece Noelle Preston and her husband David of Marion, niece Kristen Whitsett and her husband Hunter of Brookhaven, GA, nephew Erik Persson and his wife Laura of Stony Creek, NY along with many grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving step-mother, Anne Marie Lawton of Braintree, grandparents George and Beatrice Hunt Lawton of Newport, Howard Rose and Myrtle Sparkes Rose of Braintree, and his Uncle, Edward Rose of Sandwich.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2021, at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W Main St., Hyannis, MA. Reception following at The Ridge Club, 36 Race Lane, Sandwich. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The American Heart Association.
