Lewis Melvin "Mel" Creech, 91, went to join his Heavenly Father to sing in the choir on Thursday, July 15, 2021, with family by his side. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on on Monday, July 19 from 10 o'clock until the hour of service. His life will be celebrated at 11 o'clock, in Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono, led by Rev. Dr. Charles Cravey and Rev. Cile Mitchell. Burial will follow, in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to Gideons International or to Liberty United Methodist Church.
Mr. Creech was preceded in death by his father, Moses L. Creech, mother, Rena Creech Bryant, brothers, Cecil Graham Creech and Donald McArthur Creech. He was born in Selma, North Carolina and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He and his wife were members of the former Bloomfield United Methodist Church and Grace Corner, and most recently, Liberty United Methodist Church. Mel retired from Conoco-Phillips Oil Company as a Terminal Supervisor and was a longtime member of Gideons International, serving as the chaplain for the Bibb South Camp, a past area director, and local camp president. He loved to sing, participating in his church choir, and spreading the love of God through his handcrafted wooden crosses.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of nearly 70 years, Margarett Morris Creech; daughter, Cynthia Creech McAmis; son, Steven L. Creech (Pam); grandsons, Ernie McAmis, Clayton Creech; sister, Joyce Woodard; brother, Wallace Ray Creech; several nieces and nephews.
