Robert joined the US Navy at age 17 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He traveled to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and many other places during his time in the military aboard the USS Cayuga.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and amazing grandfather. He loved to cook and have family gatherings. He worked in residential and commercial construction and was a Facilities Electrician for Unum for many years. He loved being outdoors, gardening, and enjoying his ornamental koi pond. He enjoyed watching classic westerns, action movies, and spending time playing his favorite games on the computer.
Mr. Viera is survived by daughters, Lisa Viera and Theresa Viera-Busby (Sean); wife, Nora Viera; and beloved granddaughter, Brooklyn. He is also survived by sisters, Deanna Brosan, Linda Parker (John), Joseph Viera (Robin), William Viera, and Edward Viera (Terri) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Richard and James Viera, and parents, Herman and Angelina Viera. Robert was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. He will be forever in our hearts.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 with burial to follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
