He is also survived by his brother, Marco Deon, and sister, Arlene VanNest, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The son of Italian immigrants, Frank attended Cass Technical High School and then entered the Coast Guard at the age of 18 where he proudly served for four years. In 1970, he married his beloved wife, Diane, and later delighted in becoming a father to Michael and Steven. While working midnights, Frank completed his education receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Detroit. He instilled the importance of education and love for family in his children.
He loved watching his boys play sports and enjoyed coaching them, albeit from the sidelines. Frank was also a regular fixture at the Warren Community Pool and Schoolcraft College where he enjoyed swimming on a daily basis. Some of Frank’s happiest moments were spent on the golf course with his sons and his grandson. He enjoyed the fact that all of his grandchildren participated in sports and loved going to their games. He was at his most optimistic when betting on sports, although his track record earned him the nickname “Mush.” He was quick with a hearty laugh and treasured spending time with his adored grandchildren. Frank was loved deeply by his family and will be profoundly missed.
