Louise Lynch Conlan of Eastham died peacefully at age 90 on Monday, September 6, 2021. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Fraser Conlan, after 65 years of marriage. Louise is survived by six children - Kathleen Conlan (Joe), Joseph Conlan III (Jan), Mark Conlan (Pam), Julia Marcus (Mickey), Brenda Conlan (Kate) and Charles Conlan (Jen). Also surviving are 10 grandchildren - Ian, Blake, Sally, Rosalie, Barry, Reed, Jackie, Kimmy, Sunny and Sam - as well as two great granddaughters, Samantha and Meredith. She also leaves behind a sister, Margery Lynch, and a brother, Donald Lynch.
Louise was born in Boston and grew up in Newton, MA, where she attended Newton schools and graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in 1953, having studied Spanish and French. She married Joe in 1954 and they lived in Florida while he was an active duty Navy Pilot. After various career moves to Louisiana, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, they finally settled in Ridgewood, NJ, where they spent 27 years raising their family and participating in many aspects of community life. Louise enjoyed a successful career in real estate for over 20 years. She and Joe retired to Eastham, MA in 1992, where she was an active member of the St. Joan of Arc Parish, the Orleans Yacht Club, a Ladies Spanish Group, and many other social organizations.
Ever polite and gregarious, with a delightful personality, Louise loved nothing more than to visit with family and friends in person and on the telephone. Famous for her long goodbyes that often took over an hour and spilled out into the driveway, everyone will miss her refined conversational skills. She was always up for a chat, a walk, or a game of Scrabble in English or Spanish! A student of life, Louise spent many hours reading a wide variety of books.
Louise will be remembered as The Nicest Lady in the World.
The family expresses its gratitude for the care and compassion shown by staff members of Maplewood at Brewster, where she lived for four years, and Broad Reach of Chatham, where she spent the last six months of her life.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans at 11am on Monday, September 13. Burial will conclude at Massachusetts National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joan of Arc Parish Conference, 61 Canal Road, Orleans MA 02653.
