Valerie Lynn Odom, beloved mother, friend, and civil servant, 62, of Macon, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. While in the army, Valerie served in the 48th brigade for Operation Desert Shield as a crypto-traffic analyst. She was stationed in England and Germany and advanced to the rank of captain.
Valerie helped countless people during her 38 years of service to the United States government through her work at the Post Office and the Social Security Office. For leisure, Valerie liked cozy nights at home with a movie, shopping, and she especially enjoyed beach vacations when her family was accompanied by the family of her bestie, Lisa Matthews.
Valerie was a Christian and a loving mother. She is survived by her children, Aaron Odom (Ashley) of Macon, Zach Odom of Macon, and their father Douglas Odom of Cedartown. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Morgan.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a visitation. Burial will be private. Rev. Chip Miller will officiate. Masks are strongly encouraged.
